Pastor Jamar Andrews is a native of Jonesboro, AR. On February 19, 2006 he surrendered to Jesus Christ and was called to ministry shortly after being saved. On December 15, 2007, he married his wife Stephanie; they have two children, a daughter, Eva and son, Elliot. Stephanie is a Homemaker and serves in the Children’s Ministry at Word Baptist Church. Jamar serves as Lead Pastor here at Word Baptist. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communication from Arkansas State University and completed a Master of Arts in Islamic Studies from Southwestern Seminary. He enjoys spending time with his family, playing sports, fishing, and watching the Tennessee Titans. He has a passion to see lives transformed and the world reached with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Walter was born in Memphis, TN. Walter and his wife Purnima, born in Kolkata, India, met while serving the international students at Arkansas State. They have been married since February 29, 2004. Walter studied a semester at Lorenzo de Medici Art School in Florence, Italy, graduated with a Bachelors in Fine Arts from Arkansas State University and has a Masters of Divinity in People Group Strategies from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Purnima's background in counseling and women's ministry has helped her to serve effectively alongside Walter. They served as short-term missionaries in 2010 with the International Mission Board (IMB) in South Africa, and returned in 2011 to serve as long-term missionaries. At the beginning of 2013, Purnima developed several chronic illnesses. To receive further treatment, they returned back to the States and began serving at Word Baptist Church in 2014. They both love Jesus and sharing the good news to all people!
